Jammu administration reviews water and electricity supply to ensure uninterrupted services during peak summer
JAMMU, June 11 — Deputy Commissioner Jammu Rakesh Minhas chaired a high-level meeting today with senior officers from the Jal Shakti Department and the Power Development Department to evaluate the current supply of water and electricity across both rural and urban areas of the district.
The review meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Sher Singh, Chief Planning Officer Ajaypal Singh, executive engineers, sub-divisional magistrates, and other senior officials from the relevant departments to address the surge in public utility demands during the peak summer season.
During the session, the Deputy Commissioner received detailed updates on the operational status of local utility networks and specifically evaluated the durability of infrastructure that had been repaired following last year’s floods.
The assessment also focused closely on the turnaround rate for fixing damaged power transformers and examined the current capacity of existing local maintenance workshops to handle seasonal overloads.
Emphasizing the absolute necessity of seamless interdepartmental coordination, the Deputy Commissioner noted that strong administrative synergy is vital to overcoming seasonal challenges in utility distribution.
He issued strict directives instructing all concerned officers to remain available around the clock to address public grievances immediately.
Furthermore, he ordered the engineering teams to ensure the timely repair of faulty transformers and mandated the immediate deployment of water tankers to handle any emergency shortages in affected neighborhoods.
