Key Highways closed as inclement weather disrupts Jammu and Kashmir traffic update at 0830 Hrs
JAMMU & KASHMIR, September 2, 2025 – Commuters are facing significant travel disruptions this morning as heavy rainfall has forced the closure of two critical national highways in the region.

As of 0830 hours, the strategic Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) remains completely shut for vehicular movement due to dangerous conditions caused by persistent heavy rains.
The adverse weather has heightened the risk of landslides and shooting stones, making the highway unsafe for travel.
In a simultaneous development, the Sinthan Road, a vital alternative link connecting the Kashmir Valley with the Jammu region, has also been closed until further notice. Authorities have advised travelers that traffic is moving as per normal advisory on the Mughal Road and SSG Road; however, these routes serve specific regions and are not a direct alternative for those aiming to traverse the Jammu-Srinagar stretch.
The Traffic Police Department has urged all passengers and drivers to exercise extreme caution and to verify the real-time status of all routes before commencing their journey by checking the official Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police Twitter handle and Facebook page, which are being updated regularly with the latest advisories.
