Massive fire breaks out in Akhnoor hardware warehouse

AKHNOOR, May 16, 2026 — A massive fire erupted in a hardware warehouse located in the busy Akhnoor market early this morning, triggering widespread panic in the area. The blaze sent thick smoke and towering flames into the sky, visible from considerable distances.

Upon receiving the alert around 5:30 am, the Fire and Emergency Services department immediately dispatched fire tenders from the Akhnoor fire station to the scene to launch a containment operation.

The fire broke out in a multi-story building comprising a basement and three upper floors, which was being used to store highly flammable materials including paint and thinner.

Local residents joined hands with the emergency teams to assist in the initial rescue and containment efforts. While the fire caused extensive damage, destroying goods worth millions and leading to massive financial losses, officials have not yet determined the exact cause of the accident. Investigations by the Administration are currently underway.
