Udhampur DC Inaugurates Three Day Historical Shiv Parvati Mela at Moungri
UDHAMPUR, MAY 15, 2026 :- The historical three-day Annual Shiv Parvati Mela commenced today at Sar Dabbar in Block Moungri with traditional religious fervour and enthusiasm.
Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa inaugurated the event in the presence of Senior Superintendent of Police Amrit Pal Singh, local officials, and a large gathering of devotees.
On the opening day, numerous pilgrims visited the revered Shiv-Parvati Cave Shrine to seek blessings. Addressing the public, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted that such traditional fairs are vital for promoting communal harmony and unity by bringing people from various regions and backgrounds together on a single platform.
The District Administration has ensured comprehensive arrangements for security, transportation, medical aid, and basic utilities to facilitate the smooth conduct of the festival.
Beyond the spiritual activities, the inaugural day featured various sports events organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, along with vibrant cultural performances by local artists and students.
During the event, the Deputy Commissioner also sensitized the public about the upcoming Census exercise and urged active support for the 100 Days Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan to eradicate drug abuse.
The mela continues to be a major attraction for visitors from across Udhampur, Reasi, Ramban, and Jammu districts, featuring local traders and traditional festivities.
