Jammu and Kashmir Government Committed to Quality Education in Remote Areas Says Sakeena Itoo

MAJALTA, MAY 15, 2026 :- Minister for Education, Social Welfare, Health and Medical Education, Sakeena Itoo inaugurated the newly constructed building of Government Degree College Majalta in Udhampur district today.

The event was attended by MLA Udhampur East, Ranbir Singh Pathania, Commissioner Secretary of Higher Education, Ram Niwas Sharma, and Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Minga Sherpa, alongside faculty and students.

During her address, Sakeena Itoo emphasized the government’s commitment to expanding access to quality education and ensuring better opportunities for students in far-flung areas of Jammu and Kashmir.

She noted that the permanent campus building marks a significant chapter in the region’s growth and serves as a testament to the collective effort to strengthen higher education infrastructure.

The Minister also stressed the urgent need for a drug-free society, urging educational institutions to act as centers for moral guidance and character building. She highlighted that the youth are the backbone of the nation and must be protected from substance abuse through counseling, awareness campaigns, and sports activities.

Following her address, she released the college newsletter and planted a sapling on the premises to promote environmental conservation.

The inauguration featured cultural performances and a Nukkad Natak by students focused on the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, illustrating the proactive role of young minds in nation-building and social responsibility.
