Sopore Police Arrest Five Drug Peddlers in Major Anti-Narcotics Crackdown
SOPORE, May 11, 2026As part of the 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan, police in Sopore arrested five individuals in three separate operations, recovering a significant quantity of psychotropic substances. During a routine check at Janwara Crossing, a team from Police Post Warpora apprehended Faisel Majeed Mir and Naseer Ahmad Lone after the duo attempted to flee from a checkpoint.
A search of the suspects led to the recovery of intoxicant tablets, resulting in the registration of a formal case at Police Station Sopore.In a second operation at Malpora Crossing, Warpora police intercepted two more suspicious individuals traveling from Janwara.
Despite their attempts to evade the authorities, both suspects were caught and found to be in possession of illegal tablets.
Simultaneously, a third action by the Bus Stand Police Post during patrols in Shalimar Colony led to the arrest of Umar Javaid Tugoo. Officers recovered banned syrup from his possession, leading to a third FIR under the NDPS Act.
Sopore Police have launched a comprehensive investigation to trace the supply chains and wider networks associated with these seized contrabands.
Authorities emphasized that these coordinated actions are part of a vigorous campaign to dismantle narcotics syndicates and protect the local youth.
The police reiterated their warning that strict legal action will continue against anyone involved in drug trafficking to ensure a drug-free environment across the district.
