Javed Ahmed Rana Inspects Jal Jeevan Mission and Tribal Projects in Shopian and Pulwama
SRINAGAR, MAY 06: Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology and Environment, and Tribal Affairs Javed Ahmed Rana conducted an extensive tour of Shopian and Pulwama districts today to review critical developmental projects.
Accompanied by Hasnain Masoodi, Shabir Ahmad Kullay, and senior departmental officers, the Minister inspected the Awneera Kralcheck Water Supply Scheme in Shopian. This project, completed at a cost of 671.38 lakh, has successfully provided functional household tap connections to 535 households.
Rana emphasized the life-changing impact of such schemes on rural women and directed officials to maintain a strict schedule for water quality monitoring and grievance redressal to ensure the sustainability of the infrastructure.
The developmental review extended to the tribal and environmental sectors, with the Minister visiting the site of a new 100-bedded Government Girls Tribal Hostel in Zainapora.
During his interaction with the tribal community, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to their socio-economic upliftment, promising essential support including solar lighting and welfare amenities.
In a move to boost eco-tourism and environmental conservation, Rana also assessed the progress of the 14-hectare Nagar Van Scheme at Padpawan. He noted that creating green spaces is vital for public well-being and instructed the Forest Department to ensure the remaining works are completed with total transparency and high-quality standards.
In Pulwama, the Minister shifted focus to the Auhatoora Water Supply Scheme and the Forest Development Corporation depot at Kakapora. He issued clear instructions to expedite technical executions and streamline management practices to enhance operational efficiency.
Earlier in the day, the Minister visited the residence of Showkat Hussain Ganai in Chitragam to offer condolences following the passing of his mother.
Throughout the tour, the Minister reiterated that the administration is focused on the timely delivery of public services and the optimal utilization of resources across the Jal Shakti, Forest, and Tribal departments.
