Bank of Baroda delegation meets Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to discuss expansion in Jammu and Kashmir
SRINAGAR, MAY 4: – A delegation from Bank of Baroda, led by Executive Director Beena Vaheed, met with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today to discuss strategies for expanding the bank’s operational footprint across Jammu and Kashmir.
During the meeting, the representatives outlined a comprehensive plan to strengthen their presence in Srinagar and other districts, aiming to enhance banking accessibility and support regional economic development.
The Chief Minister welcomed the expansion proposal and assured the delegation of the government’s full cooperation in facilitating a larger banking network to serve the local population.
Emphasizing the core drivers of the regional economy, the Chief Minister urged the bank to focus its efforts on agriculture, handicrafts, handloom, and tourism.
He suggested that the bank design specialized financial products tailored to these sectors to provide entrepreneurs and workers with easier access to credit.
By aligning banking services with these key industries, the Chief Minister noted that the bank could play a significant role in generating employment opportunities for local youth and strengthening livelihoods.
The administration reaffirmed its commitment to assisting financial institutions that contribute to the holistic growth and financial inclusion of the Union Territory.
