Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Launches Major Campaign for Drug Free Jammu and Kashmir
Srinagar, May 3, 2026:- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha launched a comprehensive campaign against drug abuse and narco-terrorism today at the TRC Football Ground in Srinagar.
Leading a two-kilometer Padyatra, the Lieutenant Governor called for a collective people’s movement to eliminate the grip of drugs from the region.
He emphasized that the determination to uproot this menace is not merely an administrative declaration but a shared resolve from citizens who have endured decades of suffering.
He stated that the active participation of the public is an unshakable force capable of defeating enemies who use narco-terrorism to target the youth and sponsor radicalization.
The Lieutenant Governor highlighted a significant crackdown on drug networks under a new Standard Operating Procedure.
Between April 11 and May 2, authorities recorded 481 FIRs and sent 518 drug smugglers and peddlers to jail. The administration has also seized property worth crores, demolished 24 houses identified as proceeds of crime, and recommended the cancellation of over 300 driving licenses and 325 vehicle registrations.
Additionally, inspections of nearly 3,000 drug stores resulted in 107 license suspensions, underscoring a strict zero-tolerance policy aimed at completely dismantling the supply chain.
Addressing the youth specifically, Manoj Sinha remarked that drugs are not cool but are chains that steal freedom, urging them to redirect their energy toward sports and skill development. He called upon elders, spiritual leaders, and teachers to provide guidance and vigilance to protect the next generation.
Characterizing narco-terrorism as a grave threat to internal security, he warned that the time for drug syndicates on Jammu and Kashmir’s soil is over.
The administration is currently tracking financial trails to ensure every trafficker and accomplice is held accountable under the full force of the law.
