Anti-drug rally held in Banihal as part of Nasha Mukti Abhiyan campaign

RAMBAN, MAY 01, 2026:-The 16th IRP Battalion organized a significant rally under the theme “Drug-Free Society Campaign” in Banihal today, aligning with the ongoing Nasha Mukti Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan.

Held under the supervision of Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat and Additional Director General of Police Anand Jain, the primary event took place at the Helipad Ground in Gund Banihal.

The initiative saw vibrant participation from local school children, residents, and battalion personnel, all uniting to demonstrate a collective resolve against the growing threat of drug abuse in the region.

During the event, DySP Kirpal Singh addressed the gathering, emphasizing the urgent need for widespread awareness to combat addiction. He noted that protecting the younger generation is a shared social responsibility and urged all sections of society to work together to highlight the devastating effects of substance abuse.

The active involvement of students provided a powerful message, showcasing the youth’s role in advocating for healthy lifestyles and building a safer community.

The program featured a formal oath-taking ceremony led by Commandant Sukhdev Raj, where participants pledged to actively work toward eradicating drug abuse.

Following the ceremony, a large-scale rally proceeded through Banihal town to Chareel, with participants carrying placards and chanting slogans such as “Say No to Drugs” and “Choose Life, Not Drugs.”

This public demonstration reinforced the commitment of the district administration, police, and civil society to achieving the goals of the Nasha Mukti Abhiyan and ensuring a drug-free future for Jammu and Kashmir.
