ARTO Doda suspends 31 vehicle permits and 14 registration certificates for traffic violations

DODA, MAY 01, 2026:-The Office of the Assistant Regional Transport Officer in Doda has taken decisive action against traffic offenders by suspending 31 vehicle permits and 14 registration certificates.

These measures target vehicles identified through the VAHAN portal for accumulating multiple pending challans and engaging in repeated violations of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.

Authorities noted that such habitual disregard for traffic laws poses a significant threat to public safety, necessitating a firm response to ensure road discipline within the district.

Under the powers granted by Section 86 of the Motor Vehicles Act, the transport authority has mandated that these suspensions remain in effect for a period of three months.

The suspension will only be lifted once all outstanding fines are settled and the vehicle owners fulfill all necessary legal compliances. This move serves as a critical intervention to penalize non-compliance and encourage safer driving habits among commercial and private operators who have consistently ignored previous warnings and penalties.

The transport office has issued a direct order to all affected vehicle owners and operators to settle their pending challans immediately and strictly follow established transport regulations.

Officials warned that any continued failure to comply with these directives will result in further legal consequences. This enforcement drive highlights the administration’s ongoing commitment to enhancing road safety and ensuring that all motorists operate within the framework of the law to protect the lives of citizens.
