Kapurthala Police Bust Pakistan Backed Espionage Module in Joint Operation
KAPURTHALA, April 30, 2026 — In a significant victory for national security, the Kapurthala Police, collaborating with central agencies, successfully dismantled an espionage module backed by Pakistan’s ISI.
During the joint operation, authorities apprehended two individuals in Ferozepur and seized four mobile phones used to communicate with foreign handlers. Additionally, specialized surveillance equipment that had been installed near Kapurthala was recovered by the police teams.Initial investigations indicate that the accused were in direct contact with handlers based in Pakistan.
The module had allegedly set up a CCTV device equipped with SIM-based connectivity designed to transmit live video feeds of sensitive strategic locations via mobile applications.
An FIR has been registered under the Official Secrets Act, and active investigations are ongoing to uncover both forward and backward linkages while identifying further associates.
The Punjab Police reiterated its firm commitment to dismantling hostile intelligence networks to ensure the peace and safety of the state.
