LG Manoj Sinha Hails Organ Donors as Ultimate Icons of Humanity at Jammu Naman Diwas Tribute
JAMMU, APRIL 26: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha attended ‘Naman Diwas’ today, a solemn event dedicated to honoring organ donors and their families for their selfless contributions to humanity.
Expressing his deep gratitude, the Lieutenant Governor stated that organ donors bring hope and happiness to countless lives, enabling some to see the world for the first time or regain their health and freedom.
He emphasized that while no government award or institutional recognition could truly capture the immense value of such a gift, cornea and kidney donors stand as the true role models and heroes of modern society.
Reflecting on the philosophical essence of life, the Lieutenant Governor remarked that the true measure of existence lies in what one gives rather than what one accumulates. He noted that in Indian culture, organ donation is regarded as one of the most sacred and noble acts a person can perform.
During the event, he made a passionate appeal to every citizen to take a pledge for organ donation, reminding the public that every individual possesses the extraordinary power to save lives even after they have passed away.
The Lieutenant Governor also commended the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization of J&K (SOTTO J&K) for its dedicated efforts in raising awareness through hospital partnerships and collaborations with NGOs.
Highlighting his own commitment, he recalled registering himself on the Ayushman Bharat Organ Donation Registry last year.
He urged SOTTO J&K to expand its outreach to schools, workplaces, and places of worship to dispel myths surrounding the practice. Closing his address, he reminded those hesitant due to cultural concerns that all major traditions affirm the sanctity of life and celebrate the virtue of selfless giving.
