Chief of Defence Staff General NS Raja Subramani reviews Western Naval Command operational preparedness

MUMBAI, June 18, 2026 — Chief of Defence Staff General NS Raja Subramani undertook his maiden visit to the Western Naval Command to conduct a comprehensive review of operational preparedness and regional maritime security initiatives.

During the high-level visit, the Chief of Defence Staff held detailed briefings and discussions with Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command, along with other senior naval officers.

The strategic discussions focused on operational readiness, future capability development, and addressing emerging maritime security challenges in the region.As part of the review, the Chief of Defence Staff visited several key formations and units operating under the Western Naval Command, which provided first-hand insights into the frontline operational capabilities of the force.

While addressing the naval personnel during the visit, the Chief of Defence Staff commended their high level of professionalism, dedication, and steadfast commitment to safeguarding the maritime interests of the nation.

He further underscored the critical role of the Indian Navy in ensuring maritime security, maintaining a high tempo of operational readiness, and advancing jointness among the armed forces to support national security objectives.
