NDRF Personnel Undergo Intensive Mountaineering Rescue Training in Samba Jammu

Samba, April 17, 2026:- The third batch of National Disaster Response Force trainees has commenced a specialized Mountaineering Rescue Course at Nud in the Samba district of Jammu.

This intensive training program is being conducted under the expert supervision of the Jammu and Kashmir Police Mountain Rescue Team to prepare personnel for high-stakes operations in difficult and rugged terrains.

The curriculum is specifically designed to enhance the physical and technical capabilities of the rescuers, focusing on advanced mountaineering techniques such as jumaring and slithering which are essential for navigating vertical and steep landscapes.

Beyond individual maneuvering skills, the trainees are receiving hands-on instruction in engineering tactical solutions for mountain obstacles.

This includes the construction of Barma bridges, which are vital for transporting personnel and equipment across deep gorges or fast-flowing mountain streams during emergency response scenarios.

The primary objective of the course is to equip the NDRF personnel with a comprehensive skill set for disaster management in mountainous regions where traditional access is often blocked.

By training alongside the local police mountain rescue units, the program also serves to strengthen inter-agency coordination and overall capacity building, ensuring a more synchronized and effective response to natural disasters or accidents in the highlands.
