RAJOURI 29 August :- : In a shocking incident that has sent ripples through the community, a case of rape of a minor girl has been reported in a village under the jurisdiction of the Dharamsal police station in the Kalakot sub-division of Rajouri district.
According to police officials, the incident came to light recently, prompting immediate and stringent action. The Rajouri Police have registered a comprehensive First Information Report (FIR) against a total of eleven individuals in connection with the heinous crime.The case has been filed under stringent sections of the law, reflecting the gravity of the offence.
The FIR No. 65/2025 invokes sections 64(2)(m), 65(1), 70(2), and 49 of the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Furthermore, considering the victim is a minor, multiple sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act have been slapped against the accused. These include Sections 5(g)/6 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault), 9(g)/10 (aggravated sexual assault), 11(v)/12 (sexual harassment), and 16/17 (abetment and failure to report the offence).
Demonstrating swift action, police teams have so far managed to apprehend eight of the eleven accused named in the FIR. A manhunt is currently underway to locate and arrest the three remaining individuals, who are reported to be absconding.
