J&K and Ladakh Maximum Temperatures: Mercury Plummets Below Normal Amid Fresh Wet Spell

SRINAGAR, March 19, 2026 – A significant dip in daytime temperatures was recorded across Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh today as a fresh spell of rain and snowfall swept through the region.

In the Kashmir Valley, Srinagar recorded a maximum of 9.5°C, staying 6.5°C below the seasonal normal, while the ski resort of Gulmarg remained the coldest at a meager 2.5°C. The Jammu division also saw a sharp cooling trend, with the winter capital recording 20.2°C, nearly 7.3°C below normal, and Katra settling at 18.0°C.

Meanwhile, the high-altitude desert of Ladakh experienced relatively stable but chilly conditions, with Kargil and Leh recording maximums of 10.8°C and 10.6°C, respectively.

This widespread weather reversal, compiled by Kashmir Weather, has forced residents to revert to winter clothing as the region grapples with the impact of active western disturbances.
