UDHAMPUR, FEB 28 – The Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA) Udhampur successfully concluded an intensive five-day specialized training program on “Women Safety” with a prestigious valedictory ceremony presided over by Deputy Director SKPAU, SSP Benam Tosh.

Sponsored by the Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D), New Delhi, the professional course saw the participation of 24 police officers, including 12 female officers up to the rank of Inspector, all trained to enhance gender-sensitive policing and combat crimes against women with renewed vigor.

During the ceremony, SSP Benam Tosh distributed course certificates and delivered a powerful keynote address, urging investigating officers to personally oversee cases of gender-based violence and ensure the prompt registration of FIRs in coordination with prosecuting units. He emphasized a “zero-tolerance” approach, mandating the swift arrest of accused individuals without inordinate delay, while strictly cautioning that the process must remain fair to ensure no innocent person is harassed.

The high-level training featured expert sessions from distinguished faculty and guest speakers, including Dr. Sheetal Manhas (Juvenile Justice Board), Beenish Qureshi (former UNICEF Consultant), and senior legal experts, marking a significant step forward in J&K’s commitment to safeguarding women within their areas of responsibility.
