Kashmir Haat Hosts Major 2-Day Sale of Authentic Handcrafted Trainee Products in Srinagar
SRINAGAR, February 25, 2026 — The Handicrafts & Handloom (H&H) Department of Kashmir has officially inaugurated a two-day “Trainee Products’ Sale” at the iconic Kashmir Haat in Srinagar.
This unique exhibition showcases an extensive collection of authentic craft items—including hand-knotted woolen carpets, GI-tagged Pashmina shawls, Crewel curtains, and Sozni embroidered stoles—all meticulously crafted by trainees from training centers across all 10 districts of the Kashmir Division.
Other featured items include Zari and Aari embroidered suits, tweed cloth, papier-mâché, and willow wicker décor. A standout feature of this sale is the “cost-to-cost” pricing model, where products are available at highly affordable rates based only on material costs with no added labor charges, offering buyers authentic handmade goods at factory prices while providing a vital exhibition platform for emerging artisans.
The initiative, which continues through tomorrow, aims to promote Kashmir’s rich cultural heritage while giving trainees essential market exposure.
Encouraging sales are expected across all district stalls, particularly for high-demand items like GI-tagged crafts and carpets.
The success of this program is already well-established; the previous three trainee exhibitions collectively generated ₹57 lakh in revenue, underscoring the strong public demand for genuine, locally-produced Kashmiri handicrafts.
