KULGAM, February 13, 2025 – Intensifying the war against narcotics, the Kulgam Police have executed a major financial strike by attaching immovable properties worth approximately ₹1.5 crore belonging to a notorious drug peddler. The enforcement action, conducted under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, targeted assets located in Village Manigam owned by Mohd Ashraf Khanday, a resident of Nipora.
The seized infrastructure—comprising six shops, five godowns, a tin shed, and a plinth—was formally identified as “proceeds of crime” amassed through illicit drug trafficking. This move follows the suspect’s involvement in a high-profile narcotics case (FIR No. 196/2024), marking a strategic effort to dismantle the economic backbone of local drug syndicates.
Speaking on the operation, SSP Kulgam, Anayat Ali Choudhary (IPS), reaffirmed a zero-tolerance policy toward the narcotics trade, warning that any individual involved in financing, harboring, or peddling drugs would face similar stringent legal consequences.
By shifting the focus from mere arrests to the attachment of illegal wealth, the Kulgam Police aim to send a clear message that crime does not pay. The SSP further appealed to the public to act as partners in this mission, urging citizens to share information that could help shield the youth from the “destructive impact” of drugs and ensure a safer, drug-free society.
