MAHIDANDA, February 13, 2026 – To bolster regional disaster preparedness against seasonal wildfires, the 35th Battalion of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) organized a comprehensive Forest Fire Fighting and Victim Rescue demonstration at its Mahidanda base.
The high-intensity joint exercise, conducted in collaboration with the State Forest Department and Fire Services, focused on refining emergency response protocols and life-saving techniques in rugged terrain. By simulating real-time crisis scenarios, the Himveers and participating agencies showcased advanced fire suppression methods and modern rescue equipment, ensuring a seamless coordination framework for the upcoming dry season.
The program placed a significant emphasis on first aid and victim stabilization, training personnel to handle casualties in remote areas where immediate medical access is limited. Participants were briefed on the latest firefighting technology and manual containment strategies to protect the region’s fragile ecosystem.
This joint initiative underscores the ITBP’s commitment to environmental conservation and public safety, reinforcing their role as the first responders in high-altitude zones. By strengthening inter-agency synergy, the drill ensures that the Forest Department and Fire Services are better equipped to minimize loss of life and property during forest fire emergencies.
