MOREH, February 5, 2026 — In a major push to strengthen border security and curb the influx of narcotics, the Director General (DG) of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) conducted a high-level field visit to the strategic border town of Moreh today.
Accompanied by the Deputy Director General (NE Region) and the Zonal Director of NCB Imphal, the DG personally inspected the Indo-Myanmar border to assess the effectiveness of current anti-drug trafficking measures and identify vulnerabilities in the transit corridor.
During the visit, the NCB chief held extensive deliberations with the Superintendent of Police (SP) Tengnoupal and the Commanding Officer (CO) of the Assam Rifles.
The discussions focused on enhancing inter-agency coordination to combat the complex challenges of cross-border smuggling. By integrating real-time intelligence sharing between the NCB and paramilitary forces, the authorities aim to dismantle international drug syndicates operating along the porous frontier.
This visit underscores the government’s intensified “Border Vigilance” strategy to ensure a drug-free environment in the Northeast.
