J&K Sports Infrastructure: Rs 71.18 Lakh Released for Development Projects in Chanapora Constituency
JAMMU, February 04, 2026 — Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, announced in the Legislative Assembly today that a total of Rs 71.183 lakh has been released during the 2025-26 financial year for the significant upgradation and maintenance of sports infrastructure in the Chanapora Constituency.
Replying to a query raised by Legislator Mushtaq Guroo, the Minister detailed ongoing projects including a new volleyball court at Nowgam featuring professional fencing and drainage, which is being executed at an allotted cost of Rs 20 lakh. He further noted that Rs 13.64 lakh has been earmarked for chain-link fencing of the existing synthetic volleyball court and the ZPEO office gate at the Nowgam playfield, with the remaining funds prioritized for the completion of the ZPEO office building in Srinagar.
Minister Sharma also assured the House that additional Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for further sports facilities in the constituency have already been prepared and will be submitted to the concerned authorities soon to ensure youth in the region have access to modern athletic amenities.
