Samba Police Arrest Drug Peddler with 6.08 Grams of Heroin Near Ramgarh

Samba, Jammu & Kashmir — February 03, 2026In a significant move to curb the narcotics trade, the Samba Police have arrested a suspected drug peddler in the Ramgarh area and recovered approximately 6.08 grams of a heroin-like substance, commonly known as “chitta,” from his possession.

The arrest was executed by a dedicated team from the Ramgarh Police Station during a routine patrol on the Abtal-Pardi Road, following intelligence provided by reliable sources. Officers intercepted a pedestrian, later identified as Sandeep Jamwal, son of Ajit Singh and a resident of Kotli Markalian, after he was observed moving under suspicious circumstances from village Pardi toward Abtal.

Upon conducting a thorough search, the police team discovered the contraband concealed on his person, leading to his immediate apprehension and the seizure of the illegal substance.

This successful operation is part of an intensified district-wide crackdown against drug smuggling and local peddling networks aimed at protecting the youth from substance abuse.

Following the recovery, the authorities officially registered FIR No. 06/2026 under Sections 8, 21, and 22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Ramgarh Police Station.

With the suspect now in custody and the contraband seized as evidence, the Samba Police have initiated a comprehensive investigation to trace the origin of the drugs and identify any potential links to larger smuggling syndicates operating within the region.
