Assam Rifles Seizes Drugs and Explosives in Major Security Crackdown Across Manipur
IMPHAL, February 3, 2026 — Between January 25 and 30, 2026, the Assam Rifles, in close coordination with civil police and sister agencies, executed a series of high-impact, intelligence-based operations across Manipur to disrupt insurgent activities and illegal trade.
The multi-day crackdown led to the safe recovery and destruction of a 1.5 kg IED on the Heingang–Pangei Road in Imphal East, alongside the seizure of hand grenades, improvised mortars, and communication equipment in the Tengnoupal District.
In a major blow to narco-terrorism, security forces utilized drone surveillance to destroy five acres of illicit poppy cultivation valued at ₹70 lakh and intercepted a vehicle transporting 83,150 WY tablets worth approximately ₹3.326 crore. Additionally, an active cadre of the PREPAK (Progressive) group was apprehended during a targeted raid at Nongada Thongkhong.
All seized items and detained individuals have been handed over to local law enforcement for further legal proceedings, underscoring the Assam Rifles’ unwavering commitment to regional stability and the eradication of organized crime in the state.
