BJP MLAs Stage Walkout from J&K Assembly Citing ‘Evasive’ Government Responses
JAMMU, February 3, 2026 — In a sharp escalation of tensions during the ongoing Budget Session, BJP MLAs Rajiv Jasrotia and Pawan Gupta staged a walkout from the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly today to protest the government’s “unsatisfactory” replies to public concerns.
The protest began when MLA Rajiv Jasrotia exited the House, labeling the government’s responses to his queries as evasive and lacking in substance.
Shortly after, Udhampur MLA Pawan Gupta joined the walkout in a show of solidarity, further highlighting the growing friction between the opposition and the treasury benches on the second day of the session.
The walkout occurred amidst a backdrop of broader protests both inside and outside the Assembly, as legislators continue to press for concrete administrative action and greater transparency regarding pressing regional issues.
