JAMMU, February 3, 2026 — Legislators from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a vigorous protest within the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly today, demanding the immediate establishment of a National Law University (NLU) in Jammu.
As the second day of the Budget Session commenced, BJP MLAs disrupted proceedings with slogans, seeking formal clarification from the government regarding the institution’s location and criticizing what they described as a long-standing neglect of Jammu’s educational infrastructure.
This escalation follows a firm stance by Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma, who recently warned that the party would intensify its agitation alongside the student community to ensure the region’s youth and legal fraternity receive the premier educational facilities they have been promised.
