Anantnag Police Arrest Drug Peddler and Seize Contraband in Nagdandi

ANANTNAG, February 02: Continuing its intensified crackdown on the narcotics trade, the Anantnag Police apprehended a drug peddler and recovered a significant quantity of contraband during a routine check at Nagdandi Crossing today.

The operation is part of a broader regional effort to dismantle local drug trafficking networks and curb substance abuse.During the “naka” (checkpoint) checking operation, police personnel intercepted an individual identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Malik, a resident of Sombruna.

Upon conducting a thorough search of the suspect, officers recovered approximately 330 grams of a substance resembling Charas powder. The contraband was immediately seized, and the suspect was taken into custody.

Following the recovery, a formal case has been registered under FIR No. 04/26 at the local police station, citing relevant sections of the law. A comprehensive investigation has been launched to trace the source of the narcotics and determine if the suspect is linked to a larger distribution syndicate.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police have reaffirmed their dedication to eradicating the drug menace from society. Authorities continue to urge the general public to assist in these efforts by sharing any credible information regarding drug trafficking activities to help ensure a drug-free community.
