SRINAGAR, February 02, 2026: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued a fresh weather update for Jammu and Kashmir, predicting a shift in conditions starting tonight due to a weak weather system.
According to the forecast, February 2nd will see light rain or snow at a few higher reaches toward the night, followed by generally cloudy skies and light precipitation across many locations on February 3rd.
While the region will experience partly cloudy weather from February 4th through the evening of February 6th, another brief spell of light snow is expected at isolated higher reaches on February 7th. After a dry day on February 8th, light rain and snow are likely to return to a few places between February 9th and 10th, before conditions stabilize and turn generally dry by February 11th and 12th.
In light of these predictions, the MET department has issued a safety advisory for residents and commuters. Travelers and transporters are strongly urged to verify the status of major highways and roads with the concerned traffic units before beginning their journey and to strictly adhere to administrative advisories.
Furthermore, a precautionary warning has been issued for the general public residing in snow-bound higher reaches, advising them to avoid venturing into steep slopes or avalanche-prone areas to prevent any mishaps during this period of fluctuating weather.
