J&K ACB Arrests Junior Engineer in Reasi for Accepting Bribe; Fourth Case for Accused
REASI/UDHAMPUR, February 1, 2026 — The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested Rahul Gandotra, a Junior Engineer (JE) serving as a Technical Assistant in the BDO Office Gulabgarh, Mahore, for demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹8,000.
The arrest was made following a complaint from a local contractor who alleged that the official demanded illegal gratification for the preparation of bills related to a Rural Development Department (RDD) project. Refusing to comply with the demand, the complainant approached the ACB, which initiated a discreet verification that confirmed the bribery attempt.
A specialized trap team, led by a Deputy Superintendent of Police, caught the Junior Engineer red-handed while he was accepting the bribe in the presence of independent witnesses. Following the arrest, the ACB conducted a court-authorized search of Gandotra’s residence in Rehari, Jammu.
Notably, this is not the official’s first encounter with the law; he is already under investigation for three other FIRs registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the ACB Udhampur station.
The current case has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as authorities continue to investigate his history of administrative malpractice.
