Samba Police Arrest Two Inter-District Drug Peddlers; Heroin-Like Substance Seized Near Bari Brahmana

Samba, January 31, 2026: As part of its intensified “War on Drugs,” the Samba Police successfully apprehended two drug peddlers, including a woman, and recovered approximately 13.20 grams of a heroin-like substance (locally known as Chitta).

The operation took place within the jurisdiction of Police Station Bari Brahmana during a routine security checkpoint. The arrests highlight the ongoing efforts of the district police to dismantle the narcotics supply chain entering the region from neighboring districts.

The breakthrough occurred when a police team stationed at a naka near the National Highway (NHW) Sarore Adda signaled an auto-rickshaw (Registration No. JK02DM-6135) to stop for inspection.

Upon noticing the police presence, the driver attempted to flee the scene, but alert officers intercepted the vehicle near JDA Park.

A subsequent search of the two passengers—identified as Parveen Kumar, son of Darshan Lal, and Swarana Devi, wife of Ashok Kumar, both residents of Qasim Nagar, Bahu Fort, Jammu—led to the discovery of the contraband.

Authorities have officially seized both the narcotics and the vehicle used in the commission of the crime. A formal case, FIR No. 55/2026, has been registered at Police Station Bari Brahmana under Sections 8, 21, 22, 25, and 29 of the NDPS Act. A detailed investigation has been launched to trace the source of the drugs and identify any further links in this inter-district smuggling network.
