Doda Police Solve Major Theft Case; Accused Arrested and Stolen Gold Worth Lakhs Recovered

Doda, January 31, 2026: District Police Doda has successfully cracked a high-profile burglary case with the arrest of one individual and the recovery of stolen gold ornaments and household goods valued at several lakhs of rupees.

The case was initiated following a complaint by Yasmeena Begum, a resident of Goila Kahara, who reported that her home had been looted while she was visiting relatives. Stolen items included a gold pendant, gold and silver earrings, a silver necklace, and various household utilities such as an electronic stabilizer and blankets.

Following the registration of FIR No. 04/26 at Police Station Gandoh, a specialized investigative team was formed under the direct supervision of SSP Doda, Sandeep Mehta. Led by PSI Sunil Kumar and Inspector Farooq Katoch, the team utilized technical surveillance and meticulous ground intelligence to identify a suspect. The investigation culminated in the arrest of Irshad Ahmed, a resident of Nan Chabba, Tehsil Kahara.

During interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime, leading police to his residence where the entire cache of stolen property was recovered. The swift resolution of the case and the full recovery of the valuables have drawn widespread appreciation from the local community.

Doda Police have reaffirmed their “People First” commitment, vowing to maintain a strict crackdown on criminal elements to ensure the safety and security of citizens’ property across the district.
