Rajouri, January 31, 2026: In a significant move to bolster rural connectivity, Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary today laid the foundation stone for the upgradation of the road stretching from Main Road Kotekabu Brehvi to Ziyarat Brehvi Baji Darbar in Kalakote.
The ceremony was attended by Thakur Randhir Singh, MLA Kalakote, alongside senior officials from the Public Works Department (PWD) and a large gathering of local residents.
The project, which will be executed by the PWD, is designed to transform the existing track into a modern thoroughfare, ensuring safer and smoother transportation for commuters in the hilly terrain.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Chief Minister congratulated the local community and reaffirmed the UT government’s unwavering commitment to strengthening road infrastructure across remote and rural regions.
He emphasized that enhanced connectivity is a cornerstone of regional progress, vital for boosting local economic activity and improving accessibility to significant religious sites like the Ziyarat Baji Darbar.
The upgradation is expected to reduce travel time and improve the overall quality of life for the residents of Kalakote.Local residents expressed their deep gratitude to the government for addressing a long-standing demand. They noted that the project is a concrete step toward modernizing basic infrastructure in the Rajouri district.
