JAMMU, January 30, 2026 — In a significant move to honor the bravery and ultimate sacrifice of India’s fallen heroes, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has officially sanctioned the renaming of the Kathua Railway Station. According to a formal government order issued by the General Administration Department (GAD), the facility will now be known as the “Martyr Captain Sunil Kumar Choudhary Kathua Railway Station.”
The decision, issued under Government Order No. 129-JK(GAD) of 2026, reflects the administration’s commitment to preserving the legacy of Captain Choudhary, who demonstrated exceptional valor in the line of duty.
The renaming ceremony and administrative transition follow an order passed by the Lieutenant Governor’s office, signed by M. Raju (IAS), Commissioner/Secretary to the Government.
Copies of the directive have been forwarded to key national and regional authorities, including the Surveyor General of India, the Director of Map Publication, and the Divisional Railway Manager of Northern Railways in Firozpur, to ensure the new name is updated across all official maps, records, and railway schedules.
This tribute not only serves as a mark of respect for Captain Sunil Kumar Choudhary’s service but also stands as a permanent reminder to the public of the local hero’s contributions to national security.
