CBI Arrests Revenue Official Red-Handed for Bribery in Ganderbal, Jammu & Kashmir
GANDERBAL, J&K (January 30, 2026) — The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended a Patwari from the Revenue Department, Mouza Gadoora, Ganderbal, for allegedly soliciting and accepting an illegal gratification from a local resident. The arrest followed a formal case registered on January 28, 2026, after allegations surfaced that the public servant demanded Rs. 20,000 to process an extract of Jamabandi and rectify land revenue records.
Acting on this complaint, the CBI laid a strategic trap on the same day, successfully catching the accused official red-handed while he was accepting a bribe amount of Rs. 15,000.The CBI has officially taken the accused into custody, and a comprehensive investigation is currently underway to explore further details of the case.
In an official statement, the bureau reiterated its firm commitment to eradicating corruption among public servants and encouraged citizens in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh to report similar demands for bribes.
