JAMMU, January 30, 2026: In a powerful invocation of peace amidst global instability, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha paid a stirring tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his Punyatithi, describing the Father of the Nation as a “living guide” whose philosophy remains the ultimate antidote to contemporary crises.
Speaking at a solemn event organized by the Gandhi Global Family J&K, Sinha articulated that while the world faces rapid and unsettling shifts, Gandhi’s “serene yet formidable voice” provides the essential moral architecture needed to bridge modern divides.
The Lieutenant Governor dismantled the misconception of non-violence as a passive trait, instead challenging the younger generation to recognize Satyagraha as the highest form of courage and “actionable wisdom.”
Highlighting the visible transformation in Jammu and Kashmir’s social fabric—evidenced by massive public participation in national integration programs like the Tiranga Yatra—Sinha underscored that meaningful change is born from character and dedicated effort rather than mere force.
The ceremony, which began with a profound two-minute silence, evolved into a celebration of resilience as the Lieutenant Governor honored the families of martyrs and civilians who lost their lives in cross-border firing, alongside presenting the Shanti Doot Puraskar to students championing Gandhian values.
Flanked by high-ranking officials including GOC 25 Inf Division Major General Kaushik Mukherjee, IGP Jammu Bhim Sen Tuti, and MLA Devyani Rana, Sinha emphasized that Gandhi’s vision of safeguarding fundamental rights—particularly for women, youth, and the marginalized—is the bedrock of an unshakable society.
