JAMMU, Jan 29, 2026 — The inaugural Tawi Boating Festival wrapped up this Thursday at the newly developed Artificial Lake under the Jammu Smart City project, successfully drawing nearly 5,000 visitors over its two-day run and setting the stage for permanent riverfront recreation.
Attended by Member Legislative Assembly Bahu, Vikram Randhawa, and top officials including Jammu Municipal Corporation Commissioner and CEO of Jammu Smart City Limited, Devansh Yadav, the event transformed the “Surya Putri” Tawi into a vibrant hub of community engagement featuring boating, cultural performances, and traditional Dogra cuisine.
Dr. Yadav confirmed that the festival served as a successful trial for safety mechanisms and operational logistics, announcing that tenders will soon be floated to establish permanent boating and allied tourism activities managed by local entrepreneurs.
The celebration also integrated environmental stewardship as hundreds of citizens formed a massive human chain across the Tawi Bridge under the Swachhtantara 2.0 initiative, aligning Republic Day patriotism with the goals of the Swachh Bharat Mission to protect Jammu’s vital waterway.
