BARAMULLA, Jan 29, 2026 — To ensure seamless winter operations in high-traffic tourist zones, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, chaired a high-level review meeting at Tangmarg to streamline the sub-division’s snowfall response mechanism.

Joined by senior officials from the Gulmarg Development Authority, ARTO, and various engineering wings, the Deputy Commissioner evaluated recent snow clearance challenges and issued strict directives for the proactive salting of critical routes to prevent dangerous ice accumulation.

Emphasizing a “war footing” approach, the administration has placed hospitals, power, and water supply departments on high alert to ensure immediate restoration of services during heavy spells. Key discussions also centered on strict traffic management, including the mandatory use of anti-skid chains for vehicles and regulated parking to enhance public safety.

Following the meeting, Minga Sherpa personally inspected the Snow Clearance Control Room and interacted with local chain vendors to ensure service availability and fair pricing, reaffirming the government’s commitment to maintaining Tangmarg and Gulmarg as safe and accessible winter destinations.
