CM Omar Abdullah Boosts Samba Infrastructure with New Power Station and Modern Bus Terminal

SAMBA, January 29, 2026 — Chief Minister Omar Abdullah spearheaded a major developmental drive in Samba district today, laying the foundation stone for a 10 MVA Receiving Station at Harminder and inaugurating a state-of-the-art Bus Terminal at Thandi Khui.

Addressing a large gathering, the Chief Minister described farmers as the “backbone of Jammu and Kashmir’s economy,” comparing their role in fighting hunger to the soldiers who protect the borders, and pledged the government’s full support for their welfare.

The new 10 MVA power station is strategically designed to stabilize voltage and provide uninterrupted electricity to local households, industrial units, and agricultural fields, significantly reducing the load on existing infrastructure.

During his visit, Abdullah also issued immediate directives to the Deputy Commissioner of Samba to prioritize road connectivity improvements in the Harminder area.Continuing his tour to Vijaypur, the Chief Minister inaugurated the newly constructed Thandi Khui Bus Stand, a modern transit hub equipped with organized parking and advanced passenger amenities aimed at decongesting regional traffic.

Abdullah emphasized that robust investments in the power and transport sectors are essential for boosting local commerce and creating sustainable employment opportunities. He urged officials to ensure that the facility is fully utilized for public convenience, benefiting students, daily commuters, and travelers alike.

The events were attended by prominent figures including Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani, MLA Surjeet Singh Salathia, MLA Chander Prakash Ganga, and senior district administration officials, marking a significant step toward modernizing the basic infrastructure of the region.
