SOPORE, January 29, 2026 — Demonstrating a high level of operational efficiency, the Sopore Police have successfully solved a significant cattle theft case, resulting in the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of stolen property.
The investigation was initiated following the registration of FIR No. 21/2026 under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). During the probe, authorities detained several individuals for questioning, leading to a breakthrough when suspect Shakir Ahmad Dar confessed to the crime.
His admission further implicated an accomplice, Aadil Ashraf Dar, both residents of Dangerpora, Sopore. Following their disclosures, a police team conducted a successful recovery operation in the Jahama Mawer area of Handwara, where five heifer cows were found and returned.
Both accused are currently in custody, and investigators are working to identify any further criminal linkages. The Sopore Police have reiterated their unwavering commitment to protecting the livelihood assets of the community and ensuring firm legal action against those disrupting public peace.
