Major Drug Bust: Assam Rifles Seizes Methamphetamine Worth ₹6.6 Crore in Mizoram

CHAMPHAI, MIZORAM | January 25, 2026 — In a significant blow to cross-border narcotics smuggling, the Assam Rifles successfully intercepted and seized a massive consignment of Methamphetamine tablets valued at approximately ₹6.6 crore in the Champhai district.

The operation, which took place on January 23, 2026, in the Ngur area, led to the recovery of 2.2 kg of the synthetic stimulant.During the targeted operation, security forces apprehended one individual who was caught transporting the contraband on a Kenbo bike.

Following the standard legal procedure, both the seized high-value drugs and the apprehended suspect were formally handed over to the Excise and Narcotics Department in Champhai for further investigation and prosecution. This successful interdiction underscores the ongoing efforts of the Assam Rifles to curb the flow of illegal drugs through the sensitive border regions of Mizoram.
