AKHNOOR | January 07, 2026:- The Indian Army’s Press Information Bureau (Defence Wing) has successfully conducted a series of commemorative events in Akhnoor to mark Veterans’ Day, celebrating the lifelong dedication of ex-servicemen to the nation.
The celebrations were anchored by the arrival of the Dhruva Motorcycle Rally from Nagrota, which carried the Eternal Mashal—a flame symbolizing the undying glory of India’s fallen heroes.
The proceedings commenced with a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at the Akhnoor War Memorial, where senior military and civil dignitaries joined veterans to pay tribute to the Eternal Flame, reinforcing the deep-seated bond between the serving personnel and those who have retired from the ranks. In a strong show of support for the veteran community’s health and welfare, the event featured a comprehensive medical camp providing specialized screenings and consultations.
To further aid in long-term wellness, blood pressure monitoring machines were distributed to the ex-servicemen, ensuring they have the necessary tools for proactive health management at home. Beyond the clinical services, the day was marked by vibrant interactions between high-ranking officials and veterans, allowing for an exchange of stories of valor and the strengthening of the unique camaraderie that defines India’s military heritage.
The celebrations reached a spirited conclusion as the Chief Guest officially flagged off the next leg of the Dhruva Motorcycle Rally. Tasked with carrying the message of resilience, unity, and national pride across the region, the rally serves as a moving tribute to the military legacy of Akhnoor.
These events highlight the Government of India’s ongoing commitment to ensuring that veterans and their families remain an integral part of the nation-building process, long after their active service has concluded.
