Udhampur Administration Holds Public Outreach Camp in Sewna to Resolve Local Demands
UDHAMPUR, JUNE 03 — Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa presided over a public outreach-cum-grievances redressal camp at the multi-sports playfield in Sewna today to address community concerns and ensure prompt resolution of local issues.
The camp saw a large gathering of residents from Sewna and adjoining panchayats, alongside IAS Probationer Shagun Singh, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Umesh Shan, Assistant Commissioner Development Om Parkash, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Chenani Ranjeet Singh Kotwal, and various district and sectoral officers.
During the interaction, locals and former public representatives highlighted key regional demands, including the permanent restoration of the Kera Bridge, resolution of drinking water shortages, road renovations, the introduction of a science stream at GHSS Pakhlai, and the establishment of a Kendriya Vidyalaya at Dhar Gadiya. Other raised concerns included tourism promotion, land compensation, adequate school staffing, a new bank branch, a first aid sub-centre with an ambulance at Bant village, an overhead footbridge, uninterrupted power supply, and measures to mitigate the monkey menace.
Responding to the highlighted grievances, the Deputy Commissioner assured the public that all genuine issues would be addressed in a time-bound manner, resolving several matters on the spot by issuing immediate directives to the concerned departmental heads. Sherpa instructed the departments to take prompt action on the valid demands and requested detailed reports on pending issues to escalate them to higher authorities for appropriate consideration.
Interacting with the residents, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized that the primary objective of these grassroots outreach programmes is to resolve day-to-day public issues directly and monitor the execution of government initiatives and centrally sponsored schemes.
He also sensitized the participants about flagship welfare schemes and programmes, including HADP, JKCIP, PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, and Mission YUVA, urging the community to maximize their benefits from these development initiatives.
