Reasi police arrest four and apprehend two minors in Katra armed assault case
REASI, MAY 09: Under the direction of SSP Reasi Mukund Tibrewal, district police have successfully solved a recent armed assault case involving an attack at RK Palace Hotel near JIJ Chowk in Katra. The operation led to the arrest of four men and the apprehension of two children in conflict with law from Haryana.
The incident occurred on May 2, 2026, when a group armed with sharp-edged weapons forcibly entered the hotel and seriously injured Jaswinder Singh, also known as Sundri.
Following the attack, an investigation was launched at Police Station Katra under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act.
The suspects fled to Haryana immediately after the crime to evade capture, but a dedicated police team used technical surveillance and human intelligence to track their movements.
The coordinated effort resulted in the apprehension of the group and the recovery of the weapons used in the assault. The arrested individuals have been identified as 21-year-old Akshay, 21-year-old Sahil, 26-year-old Suraj, and 23-year-old Rahul, all residents of Serwad Katra.
The identities of the two minors are being protected in accordance with the Juvenile Justice Act as the legal process moves forward.
The successful crackdown was executed by a team led by SHO Katra Ranjeet Singh Rao, with oversight from SDPO Katra Bhishm Dubey and SP Katra Kameshwar Puri. District Police Reasi stated that further investigation is currently underway to ensure all aspects of the case are addressed.
The Reasi Police reaffirmed its dedication to upholding public order and ensuring the safety of both local residents and pilgrims visiting the holy town of Katra.
