CBI Arrests Punjab National Bank Manager in Agra Over Solar Panel Loan Bribe

AGRA, June 26, 2026 — As reported in an official press release from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) via Press Release , the central agency has arrested a Punjab National Bank (PNB) Manager based at the Bhadrauli Branch in Barhan, Agra, Uttar Pradesh, in connection with a bribery case. The case was formally registered on June 25, 2026, following a complaint lodged by an individual employed at a private company. The complainant alleged that the accused public servant demanded an illegal gratification rate of Rs. 7,000 per loan file to process and clear approximately 19 solar panel loan files. Following negotiations between the two parties, the bank manager reportedly agreed to accept a reduced total bribe amount of Rs. 52,000 to clear the 19 loan files, which, notably, had already been duly sanctioned by the bank.

Acting swiftly on the complaint, the CBI laid a strategic trap and caught the accused manager red-handed while they were demanding and accepting a part payment of the bribe, amounting to Rs. 30,000, from the complainant. According to the document the accused was formally placed under arrest on June 25, 2026. The individual is scheduled to be produced before the Competent Court in Ghaziabad today, June 26, 2026, as the agency’s investigation into the matter continues.
