Reasi police act tough against overloading and reckless driving
REASI, May 8, 2026 — Reasi police have intensified their enforcement efforts against traffic violations and negligent driving to improve commuter safety and maintain road discipline across the district.
During a joint traffic enforcement operation conducted with traffic police at the Baradari Bridge near Zero Morh in Talwara, authorities intercepted a passenger vehicle for a routine inspection.
The inspection revealed that the vehicle was significantly overloaded with passengers beyond its legal capacity. The driver, identified as Neeraj Kumar, a resident of Krimchi in Udhampur, was found to be operating the vehicle in a negligent manner.
Officials stated that his actions violated several traffic safety norms and posed a serious danger to the lives of the passengers and other road users.
A formal case has been registered at the Reasi police station under the relevant sections of the law. Police officials have issued an appeal to all transport operators and drivers to strictly follow traffic regulations.
They emphasized that the crackdown on overloading and rash driving will continue as part of a broader effort to prevent road accidents and ensure public safety.
