Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Pratik Sharma Reviews Counter-Terrorism Readiness in Poonch and Rajouri Sectors

JAMMU, March 5, 2026 — Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of the Northern Command, conducted a high-level security review today during his visit to the sensitive border regions of Shahsitar in Poonch and Hanjanwali in the Rajouri sector.

Against the backdrop of a complex regional security landscape, the Army Commander’s visit was primarily focused on assessing the efficacy of ongoing counter-terrorism operations and the robustness of the existing intelligence grid.

Senior officers briefed the Commander on specific operational capability enhancement measures designed to sustain long-term stability and neutralize threats in these challenging terrains.During his interaction with the units on the ground, Lt Gen Sharma expressed high confidence in the tactical readiness of the forces.

He specifically commended the troops for maintaining an exceptional state of morale and demonstrating a high degree of professionalism despite the demanding environmental and security conditions prevalent in the Pir Panjal range.
