Mission Director Reviews Major Border Village Development Projects in Samba Under Vibrant Village Programme-II
SAMBA, AUGUST 05 — Akriti Sagar, Mission Director of the National Health Mission (NHM) Jammu and Kashmir and designated Visiting Officer for border villages Rangoor and Samadhu in Block Ramgarh, conducted a comprehensive review of local developmental initiatives proposed under the Vibrant Village Programme-II (VVP-II).
During the visit, the Chief Agriculture Officer, serving as the Nodal Officer for VVP-II Rangoor, briefed the Visiting Officer on the detailed infrastructure and welfare projects slated under the Vibrant Village Programme-II Action Plan for 2026–27. The Mission Director evaluated the implementation of proposed schemes, service delivery mechanisms, and targeted interventions designed to strengthen infrastructure, bolster local livelihoods, and elevate the overall quality of life in these strategic border communities.
To gather direct community feedback, the Mission Director interacted with approximately 150 local residents, public representatives, civil society members, and Border Guarding Forces. Residents raised critical developmental demands, particularly focused on supporting the local agrarian economy, improving public service delivery, and refining departmental operations. Former District Development Council Member Anita Choudhary, along with former local Sarpanches and Panches, actively voiced the pressing aspirations and concerns of the twin border villages.
Addressing the gathering, the Mission Director gave a detailed hearing to public grievances and assured the community that genuine issues would be promptly escalated to the respective government departments for resolution. The Visiting Officer underscored that the Vibrant Village Programme aims to foster inclusive and sustainable development through a multi-sectoral strategy focused on building people-centric facilities, supporting youth development, expanding livelihood opportunities, and promoting a drug-free, productive society across Samba’s border belt.
As part of the outreach, the Mission Director inspected informational stalls set up by the Agriculture and allied departments to assess social security and welfare scheme coverage. Commending the nodal officers and line department representatives—including the Chief Medical Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, Assistant Director Fisheries, District Social Welfare Officer, Tehsildar, and Block Development Officer—the Visiting Officer praised the meticulous planning that successfully integrated grass-roots needs into the upcoming VVP-II action plan.
