24th Battalion CRPF Launches Major Tree Plantation Drive at Jammu Yatri Niwas

JAMMU, AUGUST 05, 2026 — In a major initiative to bolster local green cover and advocate for environmental sustainability, the officers and personnel of the 24th Battalion, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), organized a joint tree plantation drive at Yatri Niwas in Bhagwati Nagar on Wednesday. The eco-friendly event was carried out in close collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department and the Forest Department. Serving as the chief guest for the occasion, Pankaj Dwivedi, Commandant of the 24th Battalion CRPF, underscored the crucial need for environmental conservation and urged all stakeholders to take active responsibility in preserving nature for future generations.

The operational layout and core objectives of the campaign were outlined by the event’s Nodal Officer, Deputy Commandant Dr. Bhagat Singh, who welcomed the dignitaries and briefed the gathering on the long-term ecological benefits of such initiatives. Contributing to the discussion, Ashok Kumar Kalsi from the Jammu Forest Division highlighted ongoing district-level forest preservation programs and explained why planting trees around key public venues like Yatri Niwas plays a key role in regional climate resilience. Furthermore, Deputy Director Tourism Pankaj Shasan voiced the department’s dedicated commitment to supporting eco-friendly programs across public travel hubs.

During the joint campaign, participants successfully planted approximately 250 saplings belonging to various native species across the premises. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from key officials across departments, including Second-in-Command Nirmal Gop; Range Officers Neeraj Gupta and Dinesh Joshi; Assistant Director Tourism Vaishali Ganju; Assistant Commandant CRPF Sushen Upadhyay; along with Joginder Singh, Chandra Singh Pawar, and a large contingent of subordinate officers and security personnel.
