Minister Satish Sharma Outlines Roadmap for Development and Youth Empowerment During Kathua Visit
KATHUA, April 18, 2026:-Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport, Information Technology, and Youth Services & Sports, Satish Sharma, conducted a visit to Kathua today to engage with the local community during an interactive session at Brahman Sabha.
Addressing the public, the Minister detailed the government’s comprehensive vision for the holistic development of Jammu & Kashmir, emphasizing a roadmap centered on infrastructure growth, improved public services, and the empowerment of the region’s youth.
He reaffirmed that the administration is making sustained efforts to strengthen governance and accelerate progress across all vital sectors to ensure the region’s prosperity.
During the session, the Minister announced several key initiatives aimed at improving connectivity and tourism, including the introduction of new bus services to various religious sites for the convenience of pilgrims. He further revealed plans to augment public transport by adding 10 new buses to every district.
On the front of employment and sports, Sharma stated that the government is working to create job opportunities for approximately 50,000 youth and aims to transform Jammu and Kashmir into a premier sports hub.
This includes the development of two modern stadiums equipped to host high-profile events like IPL matches, reflecting a major push toward athletic excellence.
Addressing social and educational concerns, the Minister declared a zero-tolerance policy against drug abuse, urging the community to join the government’s ongoing war against the menace. He also highlighted recent reforms in the education sector, specifically noting that the CUET process for college students in the region has been simplified to enhance accessibility.
Joined by MLA Hiranagar Vijay Kumar, the Minister concluded by emphasizing his commitment to a responsive administration, welcoming public feedback as a tool to address local concerns in a time-bound and efficient manner.
